  skos:scopeNote "عنصر به ماده‌ای گفته می‌شود كه ذره‌های سازنده‌ی آن اتم یا مولكول باشند، البته مولكول‌هایی كه از اتم‌های یكسان ساخته شده باشند. عنصرها ساده‌ترین مواد سازنده‌ی طبیعت هستند و تفاوت آن‌ها با یکدیگر به علت متفاوت بودن خواص اتم‌های سازنده‌ی آن‌هاست. حدود 109 عنصر شناخته شده است و تنها حدود یک سوم آن‌ها در زندگی ما اهمیت دارند. نماد بعضی از عناصر به صورت زیر است: منیزیم (Mg)، روی (Zn)، طلا (Au)، آلومینیم (Al)، ید (I)، آهن (Fe) و گوگرد (S). به طور کلی عنصرها را می توان بر اساس شباهت‌ها و تفاوت‌هایی که در خواص آن‌ها دیده می‌شود به دو دسته‌ی عمده‌ی فلزها و نافلزها، دسته‌بندی نمود."@fa ;
